Welcome to Dar 91, our trio of private, serviced apartments in the medina (walled old town) of Essaouira, on Morocco’s wild and beautiful Atlantic coast.

If you’re looking for a stylish and affordable place to stay, slightly off the beaten track, you’ve come to the right place. Our apartments are full of character and original works by local artists and artisans, with just enough home comforts - including fibreoptic wifi - to make your stay feel familiar as well as authentic.

We’re situated in Chbanat, a quiet, authentic and traditional artisan neighbourhood close to Bab Doukkala and Bab Marrakech. It’s just five minutes to the souks and 10-15 minutes to the beach and harbour.

Our three apartments occupy an imposing 18th century police watchtower just within the medina walls. Each is self-contained and can be rented all year round, for short breaks, holidays or longer stays. Wahed and Zhuzh have their own roof terraces with stunning views across the medina rooftops.

You can fly direct to Essaouira or arrive via Marrakech (2.5 hours’ bus, taxi or drive away) or Agadir (3 hours).

We’ve welcomed guests from all over the world since opening in 2006. Our staff are on hand to make sure you have a great stay, and we can help you organise taxis, tours, car hire and local activities. As a socially responsible business, we look after our staff well, pay tax on our profits and also give 10% to the local community.

You may find our apartments on third party booking sites, but we also take direct reservations and can usually offer a discounted rate, so get in touch for the best price.
